Ideal Gifts for Dog Lovers

Even if we are blowing our own dog whistle, here at Man Kind Dog we believe we’re an authority on this subject. Excellent resources for just the right dog lover gift abound. But more than just making a purchase, picking up dog treats or dog accessories, there is a key to gift giving.

Have you ever received a gift and wondered, ‘what was he thinking’? Well, again, it’s because there’s a key. In order to be a ‘quality gifter’ to your dog loving friends and family, you either need to be a dog owner, or go to people who understand them. We’re both.

Our dogs aren’t just pets. They’re our friends, our companions. Our dogs are our four legged children, they’re a part of our family. Any gift that comes from the heart starts at the right place. But doing a little extra homework, understanding who you’re giving to, creates the perfect formula for picking the perfect gift for your dog lover.

Large or small, big or tall, from modest to extravagant budgets, quality, care and thoughtfulness are the most important ingredients for the ideal gift. Knowing dog owners and their pets comes next. Are they an active or reserved pair? Is it for a special occasion like a doggie birthday, graduation from training or adoption anniversary?

From dog toys to treats to necessary sundries, sometimes making a choice can be overwhelming no matter how well you know the recipient. A gift basket for dog and owner to share is a great way to cover all the bases. Maybe taking a look at a few of our dog gift packages will spark some ideas and help you find the ideal gift for your dog lover.

Dog’s Best Friend: Dog Breeds that are Right for You

Knowing yourself, what makes you, you, is extremely important for your dog. Understanding your own behavior and why you do the things you do will enable your best buddy to… well… be your best buddy!

Sound a little complicated? Introspection usually is. But in this case, let’s keep it simple and look at a few of the basics.

Life style
I am... Active. I exercise daily; I’m always on the go. My dog will have to keep up. Maybe a high energy dog breed is best for you.

I am… Quiet. Relaxed evenings at home in a stress free environment enable me to never ‘harsh-my-mellow’. Maybe an alert but reserved dog requiring only moderate exercise is what you need.

My home
I am… A city dweller. Why wade into the suburbs when everything is within walking distance. Smaller dogs with little legs do better with apartment living.

I am… A full-fledged suburbanite. Room for the kids, a yard, and neighborhood parks give our family what we need. A dog that enjoys a run around the block and the energy of children will blend wonderfully with your family.

Just as understanding who we are, helps us help you. Understanding what makes you, you, matching yourself to the needs of your dog bring unconditional friendship, love and loyalty to its peak. Personalities, how and where we live all play a part in relating to our pets. They own us as much as we own them.
